How to Take Notes While on a Call

1. Head to Your Phone App

2. Before we call, we need to make sure that call logging is turned on.

3. Hit your menu key, and go to Options

4. Go to Call Logging
5. Ensure All Calls is checked. This will put your call history into your "Messages Inbox" and is how we view the Notes you take during calls after the fact. Tip: If you don't want to enable call logging within your inbox of messages, you can also view your saved notes by looking at your call history within the phone application, gonig to the call you took notes on, hitting menu and View History.

6. Go ahead and dial your call.

7. Talking to someone and decide you need to take some notes? No Problem!

8. Activate Speakerphone - you can hit the dollar sign on the keyboard (aka speakerphone button) or use the menu key. Keep in mind, if you start taking notes first and then decide you want to use the speakersphone, at that point the keyboard shortcut will be inactive and you will have to activate it from menu.

9. Now you're talking over the speakerphone and can view your phone better.

10. Hit the menu key and select Notes.

11. A text field will appear and you can take all the notes you like! Keep in mind you don't HAVE to turn on speakerphone - but if you don't you'll have to at least pull the phone away from your ear so you can get your thumbs on the keyboard. Or use a Bluetooth headset!

12. Keep on typing till you're done. Tip: Try and type quietly... the phone's mic can/may/will pickup your thumbing on the keyboard and you don't want to give your listener too much of an ear full.

13. When you're done, hang up the phone (you can use the end call key). Because you are taking notes, you won't close down to the homescreen - you'll stay right here with the notes open.

14. Hit the menu key, and Save your Note.

15. Want to view the note you just took? Go to your Messages...

16. And you'll see the call you placed. Open it up...

17. And there you go - the notes you took during that ohhh soo important phone call are stored in your messages...AND because they are in your messages now you can work with them like messages - edit them, FORWARD THEM (send them to the person you were on the call with if you want). Just hit the menu key.

Block incoming PIN, SMS, and MMS messages by going OPTIONS > SECURITY OPTIONS > FIREWALL ... then check off all or one box.

Sometimes we don't want to be disturbed by our friends and relatives and turning off your data would only stop emails from coming. So use wisely :-) otherwise you would miss your important messages.

To do this, simply hold the Mute key on top of your device for 3 seconds. Your Bezzel(blackberry) will go into standby mode, where you will be prevented from accidentally pressing any keys, but all your alerts and calls will still come in. Creating multiple signature aliases
for emails or when texting (SMS).
The best way is to create an AutoText
entry with your desired alias or signature.
To do this, go to Options > AutoText.
Select "New".
Under "Replace", type a shortuct (ie. sb, ss - something quick and easy). Under "With" type your desired signature ("Sent by snoopbizzle, snoopshizzle") then choose save and you're set! Now in your SMS just type your shortcut and hit Space and like magic you're signature will appear.

If you're running ZoneAlarm Pro you will probably have considered that most of the "advanced" settings might as well be in Chinese for all the use they are. User friendly they are not!

If you are not on a LAN (connected to another computer in a network) you can use this guide to give your firewall some real muscle and a new lease of life:

Launch ZoneAlarm Pro and click to highlight the "Firewall" tab on the left hand side . In the pane that appears on the right hand side in the section "Internet Zone Security" set the slider control to "High" Then click the "Custom" button in the same section.

The next settings page is divided into two sections with tabs Internet Zone and Trusted Zone at the top of the page. Under the Internet Zone tab there is a list of settings that can be accessed by scrolling. At the top is the high security settings and the only thing that should check from there is "allow broadcast/multicast". The rest should be unchecked.

Scroll down until you get to the medium security settings area. Check all the boxes in this section until you get to "Block Incomming UDP Ports". When you check that you will be asked to supply a list of ports, and in the field at the bottom of the page enter 1-65535

Then go back to the list and check the box alongside "Block Outgoing UDP Ports" and at the bottom of the page enter 1-19, 22-79, 82-7999, 8082-65535

Repeat this proceedure for the following settings
"Block Incomming TCP Ports": 1-65535
"Block Outgoing TCP Ports": 1-19, 22-79, 82-7999, 8082-65535
Then click "Apply", "Ok" at the bottom of the page.

Back in the right hand "Firewall" pane go next to the yellow "Trusted Zone Security" section and set it to "high" with the slider. Click "Custom" and repeat the above proceedure this time choosing the Trusted Zone tab at the top of the settings page.

These settings will stop all incoming packets @ports 1-65535 and also block all pings, trojans etc... this will also stop all spyware or applications from phoning home from your drive without your knowledge!

Zone Alarm blocking Internet access

MS update KB951748 and ZoneAlarm --- PROBLEM

For those of you using ZoneAlarm who installed the windows updates today, you probably already know that your internet connection has died. It appears that KB951748 made changes to the networking files that ZA doesn't see/recognize.

After two hours of messing around, I found an inelegant solution that will work temporarily ... set the Internet Zone Security permission slider from high to medium. The connection will be restored.

I discovered this after I finally figured out ZA was blocking my internet connections, and turned it off. Once everything worked again as normal, I started playing around and hit on this lowered permission setting.

I imagine the ZA forum will be full of better solutions, but thought this would get you back up and running in the short term.
